1 You end a typical letter with a farewell expression, a comma, and then your name or signature.
2 The farewell expression is what gets everyone. Of course, we all know that we can end letters:Sincerely, Yours sincerely, Sincerely yours,These endings are classic, but also are a little clingy sounding. That's cause you probably learned them in elementary school. These endings are appropriate for business, however, because of the implied distance between the person writing and the person receiving the letter.Of course, you wouldn't write a family member and close the letter with "Sincerely." You would sound emotionally distant.
3 WIth family members, relatives, or loved ones, use more informal endings.Classic informal endings include:See you soon,See you on _____,Talk to you later,Later,Yours,Yours Truly,Love,With Love,Have a good day,Have a good _____ (vacation, etc.)
4 Sometimes it gets tricky when you want to write a letter or e-mail to someone you are sort of familiar with, and don't want to appear either to close or too distant.Use these endings:Later,See you around,Talk to you later,Regards,Warm regards,Best,All my regards,All my best,Peace,Cordially yours,
5 When writing informally, you can capitalize both words in the ending, like "Warm Regards", or the first word "Warm regards." If writing for an organization, check the style sheet for your company.
